Her Hero, delivered in partnership with Reaching Higher, Aspiring Young Women and ID360, was a 3D STEM project for secondary school-aged girls in Croydon. The programme offered weekly after-school workshops in a safe and supportive space, helping to reduce the risk of involvement in violence and exploitation while building positive, trusted relationships with adults.

Over 12 months, participants embarked on a journey to create their own real-life superheroes. Through mentoring, wellbeing support and 3D printing, the girls explored key characteristics and traits, reflected on their aspirations, and developed confidence, creativity and self-expression. Beyond technical learning, the programme helped participants see themselves as innovators and leaders.

Creative elements such as animation and logo design allowed the girls to apply their skills in imaginative ways. Twelve young people remained engaged throughout the programme, benefiting from both group sessions and one-to-one mentoring, and taking part in open discussions about their hopes, concerns and challenges.

The project culminated in a year-end exhibition organised by the girls themselves, where they showcased their superheroes and shared their journeys, celebrating both their personal growth and newly developed skills.
