The Creative Empowerment Programme utilised music and podcasting as tools for engagement while providing therapeutic mentoring to young people in alternative school provision. Delivered in partnership with Project 4 Youth Empowerment (P4YE) and Hope Pro UK, the programme created a supportive and creative space for participants to develop life skills and build confidence.

Through six-week workshops delivered across three alternative provision school sites, young people took part in an engaging experience that introduced them to DJing, podcasting, radio, editing and filming. DJing and podcasting were used as central tools for engagement, with participants gaining technical skills in mixing and equipment use, while podcast sessions encouraged them to articulate their thoughts and feelings about life and share insightful views on current issues.

Mentors supported young people to address the specific challenges they faced, explore career paths they were passionate about, and engage in youth activities outside of their school setting, promoting a well-rounded approach to personal growth and development. At the end of each cohort, participants demonstrated their new skills to families and peers through showcase events.

The programme directly engaged 53 young people, with 14 receiving further mentoring support. Of these, 17 continued their journey with P4YE through one-to-one and group mentoring, youth hubs, camps, studio sessions and residentials.
